Dr. Ilias Nesseris
Division for Byzantine Research/Institute for Medieval Research of the Austrian Academy of Sciences
Born 1980, Ioannina (Greece). B.A. in History and Archaeology (2002) and M.A. in Byzantine Studies (2005) at the University of Ioannina. Ph.D. in Byzantine Studies (2014) at the University of Ioannina with a thesis entitled «Higher Education in Constantinople in the Twelfth Century», supervised by Prof. C.N. Constantinides. Senior residential fellow of the Research Centre for Anatolian Civilizations of Koç University (Istanbul, 2014-2015). His research for the Moving Byzantium project focuses on the documentation of social practice (eg. contracts, signatures etc.) as it evidenced in Byzantine liturgical manuscripts.
